Un Fiore della Toscana translates to a flower from Tuscany. This is an "open bite" copper plate etching. Your basic copper plate generally has one level of etching. This plate has two layers. One layer is deeper than the second. This allows for a broader effect in the finished art. It also provides the artist the opportunity to add two separate colors to the plate versus one. When two print colors are selected and printed, the colors blend creating a third color. If you have questions on the coloring, please ask. I have one chine collie', six with varying shades of green, one with green and blue hues, one pink with purple, two pink and three with blue hues.
I tried a variety of colors for this plate so I have several in different colors. The plate was inspired by a photo I took of a beautiful flower on the hillside while in Florence, Italy. I love how the colors come together each time I create a new print.
